Golan, consisting of Alex, Ernesto and Mihai, started in 2013 as an electro project with Cuban and jazz influences, after Alex heard Ernesto play during a trip to Cuba and asked him to move to Romania and start making music together. They named it Golan, meaning “hooligan”, but their sound is far from the coarseness the name would suggest.
Golan blends Latino sounds such as salsa and meringue with electronic beats. They use trumpets, flutes, percussion and vocals to put together an amazingly haunting show, with the keyword being melancholia.
